The aim of Toccata Classics is to present recordings of outstanding music not otherwise available, without regard to the period of its composition or its provenance – good music is good music, no matter who wrote it, when or where. So Toccata Classics will be deliberately casting its eyes over the musical cultures of less well known traditions, on the fringes of Europe, especially in the East and North, in Central and South America and elsewhere. But it will, of course, also be working with musicologists to uncover forgotten gems of the past from better-known cultural centres. The idea is to ignore, as far as possible, received opinion in the hope of offering as rich, colourful and rewarding a palette of music as we can.

The philosophy of Toccata Classics is not to duplicate recordings of music that is already adequately represented in the international catalogue: there’s no point in going over the same ground twice (of course, it’s a different matter if the only available version is poorly performed or recorded or has no international distribution, or if Toccata Classics is subsuming that work as part of a larger project). So we can guarantee a high probability that Toccata Classics recordings will bring you music that is new to your collection.

That allows us to instigate a novelty in the world of classical music, the Toccata Classics Discovery Club which, for a small annual membership fee, will bring you the recordings of the kind of music you like at a substantial discount – roughly a third off retail price, thereby effectively transforming Toccata Classics for Discovery Club members from a full- to a mid-price label.

And you can already listen to each new release track by track on this website; soon the e-mails to the mailing list will bring links to samples, too. If you like what you hear, you can buy the CD (or downloads) online – but if you join the Discovery Club when you make that purchase, you will immediately avail yourself of the members’ discount, and enjoy the same discount on every subsequent purchase you make for an entire year from the date of joining. Of course, you always remain in complete control of what you buy.

Membership of the Discovery Club will also bring you access to the complete back catalogue of Toccata Classics titles at the same discounted price as the new releases, allowing you to make enormous savings on a wide range of music.

The Toccata Classics Discovery Club will be open to all purchasers: individuals, music schools, libraries, universities, etc. And a special membership rate will soon be launched, whereby a single, one-off payment will bring you everything Toccata Classics releases in the year thereafter, at an even bigger discount than through the Discovery Club.

The Discovery Club will also encourage members to suggest repertoire they think important and worth consideration for recording – making Toccata Classics the first ‘interactive’ classical label.
